Hi all, I've been trying to figure this out for awhile and have tried every combo of these words I can think of in the search bar but I have been wondering if it's possible to stop the player footfall sounds when the player is crouched. Ive tried to edit dark ai so it doesn't hear the player from so far away but then just become dumb and that doesn't seem to be an option when the player possess more than a knife.

Sorry if this has been answered but for the life of me I can't find it

Cheers for any responses

Hi Najoko
There is a condition called ":plriscrouching" Maybe you can implement that into a script to kill the sound when crouching?

ive been looking and can't seem to find anything that would kill just the footfall sounds... But maybe (and a long shot with my below average scripting skills) i can work that condition into the dark AI so that the AI reacts to a smaller sound range when the player is crouched, cheers for response

plrfootfall=x (1 on, 0=off), combined with plriscrouching and should do the trick.

Absolutely fantastic work there Scene Commander, my hero

The script with those commands would have to be placed into a trigger zone though wouldn't they?

Cheers

*edit* tried to plug it into a triggerzone and it worked, i can remove the player footfalls, only problem is, it removes the footfalls whether u are crouched or standing, do I need to be latest beta? im on 12 at the moment

TZK's script will work fine, but to fully optimize your script and use the least amount of resources, I'd use this one:

This snippet ensures that the script works, but doesn't repeat the action over and over, potentially saving some resources.

Thanks,

Akanto is right, I didn't think to optimize the script because I was in a hurry. The performance impact from my version may not be large, but it is slightly noticable. So yeah, go with the script Akanto has supplied you with.

I thought it was changed abit ago to "iscrouching"

ncmako, the command was changed not too long ago from "iscrouching=X" to "plrcrouching" and "plrnotcrouching" to specify that it is in reference to the player's state of stance, as opposed to a character's.

Thanks,
Akanto

Thanks Akanto10, makes sense. Just looked thru the syntax list and it has all three listed along with "plrnotcrouched" LOL
But thank you,
best
