well, i can make 3D letters by using a text program like PhotoShop or PhotoImpact, just make the background behind the letters black then u can save it as an image and then stick it to a sprite and replace it anywhere u want.

or you can use a 3d modeler, alot of these programs let you make text which you can then extrude into 3d, then load it into db and use it like any other object

yeah, a 3d modelling app would be pretty quick to make the entire english alphabet. I know in 3dsmax it has a text primitive, you just preset the letter thickness (z axis) and then just type out a letter or word, then just save and export.

Be careful though because extruded text can be quite a lot of polygons and anything more than a few letters could quickly kill your framerate.

Another option would be to figure out how to make the letters you want using DB cube primitives.

Use sprites - any 2D Program like MSPaint can do it. Just a black background with white lettering. You dont have to have those expensive programs like photoshop to do good 2D work

Don't use anim8or's letters! They are extremely high poly. Use Wings 3D or the new Milkshape plugin for letters. They both work well.
