Hi all,

I've been away from the dark basic community for a while, trying to learn Unity. I always felt more comfortable using dbpro but it is sadly starting to feel dated.
Joy to my eyes when I stumble upon a thread made by Lee enquiring about interest in something called Dark Basic Elite.

However there doesn't seem to be any updates about this project. Do any of you guys know if this idea has been shelved or if DB Elite is actually in the works?

Have not heard any more about it. They are making a new FPSC now With DBP. From what I heard DBP would have to be updated quite a bit for that. Have not seen much in that area either. I think it was an either/or, situation and they went with the new FPSC reloaded but with the promise that DBP would need substantial updates which would be released to the community . I could be wrong and they may be doing the Elite also but I don't think so. It would be nice to see some of those updates to DBP they were talking about.

Question! If you have been off learning Unity have you been learning C# also? I am pretty interested in Unity but can't seem to find any good tuts for it. I am also interested in c# and XNA and have looked into some Unity stuff but don't think I know enough C# right now to get along with it.

That's a shame, I'd rather see a heavily updated dbpro or dbelite then a new fpsc.

As I work with web design the natural choice was to go with javascript in Unity. JS is supposed to be easier to learn if you're used to basic, however C# is probably more versatile. It comes down to a matter of taste.

Yeah the documentation is pretty poor, I actually learned the basics from youtube videos. I would recommend looking there first if you want to get your head around Unity.

Yes it would be nice to see a very over powered dark basic but as "Dragon slayer" said they are making "fps reloaded" with dbp

I am glad that there will be a update for the current one and hopfully after reloaded comes out bugs worked out etc they will look forward to a new dbp

dark basic elite is coming when FPS reloaded is out. (I believe in September.) yet the term elite is gone. but DBpro will be updated.

I don't think DBpro is dated. it makes the windows operating system within your hand and there are more things that you can do in windows than other platforms.

I can't make anything in windows 8 which uses certain plugins. (D3D for one)
I can't make anything which doesn't require UAC be disabled. Even old games recompiled in Win8 now get the stupid UAC prompt, then simply fail to run.

I hate windows 8, and wish I could afford windows 7.
