Windows 7 64 bit.

DarkBasic Pro free version.

When I compile a project with media, it doesn't matter how I do it, exe, media whatever. I put the media folder in my project folder right on my desktop so it's not messed up by the whole compatibility issue. My commands are like load image "media/pig.png",1. I have also tried other commands I've seen used like load image ".\media\pig.png",1 and also load image "media\pig",1. Regardless of how I code the media load files, it works from DB pro, and it works if I simply run the application file from a location on my computer where the media folder is in the same folder as the application. But trying to compile a single executable file just doesn't work.

Darkbasic Classic was easy to make a single exe file which included the media files. I have a feeling that DarkBasic Pro SHOULD be just as easy, but for the life of me, I cannot get it to work with any project, from either of my Windows 7 computers.

DarkBasic Pro Build June 23, 2010 - Version 1.071

Surely someone else has had this same problem and can offer assistance.

Thanks!

nobody uses that feature, it's useless. Just put the media alongside your exe

I'd have to agree with brendy boy. Single files are horrendous and in my opinion should never be used, ever!

However, you probably need to add the media to the project from within the IDE in order to use this method....

Like Mobiius says you have to add what files you want embedded from within the IDE. They are not automatically embedded by it scanning all your load image commands.

Im still on an old version of DBPRO and the old IDE but this post may help;

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=64555&b=1

Basically if all your images are in a media folder, you just add the following using the add media files option in IDE;

media\*.*

and when compiling make sure you have selected the correct compile option of 'exe with attached media'.

Good luck!

But please dear lord, don't do this. no-one want to wait 5 minutes for the application to extract all the emdia before it runs, every time you run the game!
