This is the effect i want to achieve. I get within black distance of a door, it will set an effect on the door. I looked through the commands of FPI editpad, and i found no "seteffect" command. All i found was "setposteffect" and i don't want a post effect.

All and any help is appreciated, also i am not requesting a script, all i would like is some help as i have only done simple scripts.

Hi Tomahawk
Quote: "get within black distance of a door"

Do you mean like "within one block/or one segment"? If so use "plrdistwithin=x" (100 = one segment).
Also when you say "set an effect on the door" do you mean an effect or maybe texture? If you do what to change texture look into "alttexture=x" This switches the texture of the entity.
If none of these, describe what you are trying to achieve.

Ok, thanks for the reply first of all, and the effect that i am trying to achieve is. When the player walks up to a door or something the player he can interact with the object will add the effect of a shine , or something to that effect. I have the shader so you don't have to worry about that, all i want to know is this possible, and if so what is the best why to go about it.

Shaders for an entity/segment are set once. I don't believe they can be turned on & off once set. I maybe wrong?
What you may want to look into is the "videotexture" actions. They can be "turned" on&off. BlackFox did a nice quick tutorial here...http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=192148&b=23 for a TV. You could add nice "shine effect" when interacting with an object. Might work for you?
