Oh God why

Steam have introduced trading cards. This site can explain it more than I can: http://steamcommunity.com/tradingcards/

Basically, you get digital cards for playing games that craft into a profile badge, background and chat emote. Unfortunately for me, I do not own most of these games, except for Counter Strike: GO and the free games do not interest me (Yes, including TF2. I know.)

You get half of the cards just for playing the game, but you have to trade and ask the community for the rest. For free to play games, you pump in money for stuff like mann co items to get more drops.

For people like me, this means that if I want to get all the cards for one game, I either need to pay 70p for each card on the community market, or hope someone gives them to me from the kindness of their heart. I doubt this will happen for a long time.

Should valve keep this system or change it so you can get all cards for free, but it takes a lot longer? Also, does anyone wanna give me their CS:GO cards?

Change it so you can get them all for free. I'm certainly not going to buy virtual trading cards, and I doubt that I'll get many for free. To me, this system doesn't serve much purpose, if it were changed so that you can get them all by playing the game, at least it would give me an excuse to play certain games over.

At the moment, it's a nice little earner if you leave a game idling for a couple of hours to earn some cards and then put them on the marketplace a little below average. Pick up some games on sale for free xD

They are now gamifying games? As someone who doesn't even like "trophies" this doesn't interest me at all. I know there will be some sad person who will obsess about collecting everything, there always is, there would be that person if it was a bird poo collecting game.

The cards arent used for a game, theyre used to make a little badge for your profile
