Tentatively planned features:

Modular/customizable: The game will feature scripts that can be used to quickly and easily customize and add your own custom content.
This includes menus, weapons and AI (Not the generative type)

Revisited content from my previous projects: Acrogorpon WIP's, Project Cru-Mun, Bloodshed Tournament and many more. The graphics will be enhanced and some of the maps will retain their classic looks.
I currently have a combined total of 40 maps that I need to sort through. I also have about 60 weapons that I will be revisiting.

There will also be a training mode added that you can use to familiarize yourself with the game mechanics and interface, this will be in similar style to the older generation FPS games from the late 90's.

I will be updating this thread as I get further in the development phase. There is a lot done but so much more to be done.

Gameplay looks very solid
and the pace looks just fine for me.

Is this made with DBPro or FPSC ?

Looking forward to try this game.

Yes indeed, it's still alive and kicking. I am glad you liked it before. This should be a big improvement in comparison.

Thanks, it took a lot of perfecting to get it just right.

This is a DBP project.

This is looking excellent!! One of the better FPS games I've seen done in DBP! Congrats DL187.

Do you have a server running for multiplayer? How many players could play at once?

I don't have a game server running however there is a broadcast server so if someone else is hosting you should be able to see it. There is currently a limit of 30 players but I have yet to fully test the limit.

Had a go on the demo and I have to say the trailer of yours didn´t promise to much!
Is there a chance of organizing a test match?
I would love to try this against real opponents.

If you want players, you should schedule a game once a day, or once a week or two and give us the date, time and IP in advance so people can prepare to join the game and play test it.

I'm getting the mfc71.dll bug. I think I have it somewhere from other dbpro problems, but did anyone else get this report?
...
It doesn't seem to support (or even list) my resolution (2560x1440) but trying now

Edit: not seeing you nerd

I definitely recall that error having something to do with a computer not having the latest visual studio redistributable installed. Google that, it's one of the most likely ways to fix the problem.

I'll have a look but I usually just stick the .dll in the folder and it's all good

Edit: I saw a server this time but wasn't able to connect
Edit: DL187, just so you know, Thenerd and I were unable to connect to each other. I kept getting a "server is offline" error when connecting. Although I could see his server's level, player count etc. the server name was unknown. It could have been a mistake on either of our parts but we were unable to resolve it.

This usually means the host did not have their ports properly forwarded/opened. [20187-20189 TCP and UDP]. The host essentially is able to connect to the broadcast server but the clients are unable to connect to that host causing the issue you pointed out.

Another thing that could cause this same exact problem would be if your security software was running the game in a sandboxed mode. If you type "local" in the console, do your public and private IP's match your machine?

If you are still having issues, I would recommend taking a look at
http://portforward.com - Substituting the ports/protocols mentioned in the link to the ones needed by the game.

Ah alright looks like this was still the problem after all thenerd

Yup, they match! I made sure to give the application proper permissions before running it aswell

As far as I can tell, I've set up port forwarding and firewall permissions correctly. I can use other programs to see if the ports are open, and they seem to be:

However swissolo still couldn't connect to the server, and I couldn't even connect from another machine on the LAN.

Thanks for the information, thenerd if you type "local" in the game console, does it return accurate information?

-Update-
I just added an updated file [3.01]. I've included 2 new commands that may help you out with your problem. These commands are for hosts only.

public_ip
local_ip

These can be specified in the console or config files prior to hosting a game. Let me know if that helps.

Alright, so swissolo and I played for almost an hour just now. We just played both maps and had a ton of fun. He said something that I agree with, this is honestly the first dbpro game in a long time that I've actually played, not just tested. Major kudos to you, this game is great.

I have a huge list of both good and bad things, I'm going to make a list of some of our observations, criticisms, compliments, all that.

- Gameplay was great, guns felt very good. It felt like it took skill to play.
- Minigun was best at short range, the AR best at long range, and the third gun didn't feel very good at anything.
- Swissolo was pretty good at sniping me out of the air, made for some good fun
- The armor was underpowered, jetpack was overpowered.
- The effect where you lose control for a second or two after a long fall is really annoying, especially on maps with no fall damage.
- The ice grenade: in my opinion, the most fun weapon in the game. I iced both of us once, swissolo's ice popped first, and he killed me. That made me laugh.
- d_xmas was too big for two players. It could actually be split into two maps even.
- If you have code for bots, add them as an official feature. I can only imagine how fun it would be!
- Map textures / graphics need a little work. I think you can keep the style classic and find more attractive textures.
- We want more maps! Swissolo mentioned you should create a close-quarters only map.
- Close combat was the best combat.
- If you have big open maps, add a sniper rifle or some other type of long range weapon.
- I glitched through the glass ceiling in the arena map by hitting the edge while moving sideways in the air. I got stuck inside it. Could only replicate it twice.
- The lag popup that displays on the right of the screen flashes often. You should change it so it only shows up if the game lags for a few seconds.
- I actually forgot I was playing a dbpro game. If the graphics were tightened up and maps were added it would be worth buying, even.
- Overall, very professional I'm sure I'll think of something more!

Thank you for the feedback. I am glad you guys were able to play the game.

Quote: "Map textures / graphics need a little work. I think you can keep the style classic and find more attractive textures."

What settings did you have for the model and texture detail in the configuration screen?

Quote: "We want more maps! Swissolo mentioned you should create a close-quarters only map."

More maps will be available in the full game along with custom map playability. I have several close quarter maps planned.

Quote: "- If you have big open maps, add a sniper rifle or some other type of long range weapon."

This is also a feature that will be available in the full game. The sniper rifle will make an appearance along with several other weapons.

Quote: "I glitched through the glass ceiling in the arena map by hitting the edge while moving sideways in the air. I got stuck inside it. Could only replicate it twice."

What happened when you got stuck inside of the glass?

Quote: " I actually forgot I was playing a dbpro game. If the graphics were tightened up and maps were added it would be worth buying, even."

Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed the game.

I am hosting at 2.218.173.165; join or someone with good connection make a server; Sky broadband sucks.

Edit: Yeah, this is a vanilla PC, just set it up so the router might be blocking access. I will look into port forwarding but will leave the hosting live.

Still; someone else create a server please.

Wow this is so great! Just great. I hope you continue working on this; I've not played yet but can already feel how well made this is!

Edit 2: I have port forwarded 20187 - 20189

I will be hosting a server in about 15 mins for an hour or 2 incase anyone wants to try it out. I will have to look into what is causing the issues with port forwarding. Chris could you type local into the console and let me know if your LAN IP is displaying correctly.

OK; my Public and Local IPs are different, there are 4 PC's connected to my router.

Edit: I've seen something else in my router settings called remote access; there seems to be more than one port setting dialog. I'm setting my main local IP as the one used for remote access

Edit 2: OK that's not it, that is to do with router management. So what I did before allowing access via ports 20187 - 20189 should work.

Yeah, that was fun. Shame I got disconnected after being online for 3 hours; for Sky to disconnect me right in the middle of the game; and as per usual with every FPS no matter what new PC I buy, my connection and bullet reg sucks.

All in all the game itself is fun; quite different to what I'm used to. It will only get better and better I feel.

I fancy having another play test again this weekend. Hopefully more people will join this time.

I'm not the best host; since my connection is not good, although the PC is slightly improved.

How about Saturday 11pm GMT + 1?

Downloadeded it! And had fun even with no other players around.

Just one thing, could you turn vsync on? I am having pretty high framerates but those cause squealing noises (capacitor squealing), vsync on should do the trick. Here is how it sounds like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22b5fLzZLJY .

EDIT: LOOL! Missed the options menu, got it now!

There is options for everything in this game; usually when you play a DBP game you have one or two options in a config file.

I should start recording my game-play too.

I can't wait to hear how this sounds with quality sound effects.

Yes, there are quite a few options available, in fact there are still plenty I have not written about yet. I am working on it though.

Quote: "I can't wait to hear how this sounds with quality sound effects."

You can actually customize the sounds as you see fit. I will be making a tutorial soon on how to modify the game. I have made 2 tutorials so far which are on the website but plan to release more soon.

Version 3.03 has also been release.
