In Sweden of all places...

It seems fair enough though. When you're talking about entrance fees and cash prizes, well it's no different than a poker tourney no?

But it's also affecting LAN cafés, anything that has computer games in them - it doesnt even need to have prizes.

basicly any internet cafe or etc, that has gaming computers in them - are going to be taxed for it.

They even said "We are aware that it's not exactly gambling or whatever, but this is the way it is now."

The guys who decided upon this don't even know what it is they have decided upon, they just drew a generalization that "Gaming = money".

I don't think you'd ever see this in the States. Still messed up way to grab money from Swede taxpayers.

Chances are people are just not going to pay it and no one will ever know I mean honestly, they can play online but when in one location, using their own resources, it requires the government ??

As a general rule governments always act in the best interest of the people and never against it, so why are people complaining and not just accepting the will of their omnipotent overlords?

They're not connected for gaming, they're connected for sharing chunks of informational packets with each other. What each PC does with that data is entirely irrelevant.

edit: that being in a LAN cafe or such.
