Dark GDK / Changing resolution

I'm using dbSetDisplayMode to sort out the resolution for my fullscreen game and I was wondering if there was another way of doing this. I ask because when I use it, it works the first time but if I try to call it a second time it crashes the program, will a loop or anything in particular make this happen?

Before I can change the resolution, I have to destroy all game objects before and reset all settings to default - and I'm doing this just with a background screen and buttons.
