Due to the large amounts of netsplits on the coolchat server, we're moving the #darkbasic channel over to the more secure irc.foreverchat.net. We're hoping to get the links on this site redirected to it, although we have to wait for Rich to do it
Atm, any ops on the old network have to come in and register their nicknames to regain their powerful status .

Anyway, the new details are:

irc.foreverchat.net
port 6667
#darkbasic

Also, any mods who see this, feel free to make this a sticky.

Yea, the registration process for this new channel is a bit more complicated and you have to do an email validation thingy. We are sorry for the incovenience this may cause.

it's a little bit more secure than coolchat now.

you cant see other people's ip addresses now (only part or encrypted)

new modes for the channel which i wont go into too much detail otherwise i'll confuse you lot

so any of the ops from coolchat please register your name on the new network and we'll make you op again

Coolchat wasn't as bad when we started, but... aieee. It's certainly gone downhill. Foreverchat seems far more secure & stable.

I'd like to know why Coolchat had /dns enabled, the only things those types of commands do is promote 'l33t hax0rz' and then soon you find you've been Nuked with one of the many IRC Nuking tools out there.

the 10 netsplits a day from coolchat just put the nails in the coffin

i didnt think any of the admins were helpful. at least with this server they will do anything for us (since we could be a possible perminant room) and legal at that too

liquidz you need to register your name and then i'll add you, but there are no more positions for ops, i can only give you hop (%) mode, you can still kick/ban with it.

p.s. it would be nice if you can be in the room longer than 2mins!

Ops have been kind of trimmed down to the frequent visitng ops. We've got a number of hops, though, and they can kick/ban.

The new channel has the rank system tied into kicking & banning, something which I always thought should be implemented (simple yet neccessary). You can only kick people below your rank-- hops can kick users, aops can kick hops, sops can kick aops... but, as mentioned, sops can't kick sops, so that gets rid of the 'mod wars' . Much better.

Hey i have to tune in and out... ya know with the 56k and all... i can't stand slowness. When the channel first started i was in there almost all day (hehee i was so happy about being an "op" that i just stayed in there all day)

I want to try and keep the amount of moderators in the channel to a minimum. TGC staff will most likely get opped but other than that i think we have a good number of operators now, considering the amount of traffic the room recieves. Rich, have you updated the site to point to the new network?.

He's talking about how his mouse broke, he made a program that will position the mouse based on joystick/controller movement, and he replaces the mouse with that program to play Unreal Tournament, but he still prefers his mouse.
