Just starting with programming...I am interested in sending and receiving commands to a device on the serial port for use as a game controller. I see there is support for null modem (serial port)games but it appears that there has to be a "netgame session" setup first.
Can you send commands to the serial port without a netgame being created. Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone know what kindof signal goes out to the joystick when a forcefeedback effect is sent.

I second that question.
I want absolute control over the serial port.
Maybe QBASIC commands (OPEN COM) might work?

Forcefeedback is a midi command. Midi signals are 1-way serial 20 milliamp (not 12 volts!!!) 32500 baud codes. I don't know what codes are used.

I've got a serial port plug-in. I think it works - cant test it myself.
