Ohai

I thought i would post a couple images of what i'm working on.

The first orange truck is my first attempt after a long time of not making anything. i'm not working on it as i don't like how it is turning out. it doesn't have the shape i was going for and is already too high poly.

The second blue one is my second attempt. i need to finish the rear, and add details like the holes for the fog lights. I think i might redo the hood and windows.

Tell me what you think.

I didn't realize just how dead the 3D chat board was. :/

I finished the Blue truck and have begun texturing it. The final poly count was 2956.

Nice looking trucks. I think these will look great when textured.

What will you be using these in?

Jay.

Very Nice, Looks like your are using Wings3d.
I also use wings3d.
You might want to check out this program to add detail with out adding
polys. It is free I use it with my models.

@Stab in the Dark Software
Thanks for the link. I was looking for something like this but couldn't come up with anything.

@unfamillia
FPSCR most likely.

I have begun on the texture but am quickly finding it difficult because I don\'t know how much grunge I want on it. Leaving it plain just doesn\'t look right either. I think the headlights turned out well.

I'd recommend continuing in that style until you finish the texture, then take the time to consider wether you should grunge it up or not

I found a better way to make the painted metal look like it should. I'm almost done the texture and will move onto another model for now. I also remade the tires making them easier to texture.

WOW looks great.
Are you using ambient occlusion generated in wings3d for your texture?
I found the ambient occlusion generated by XNormal was eaiser to use and generated a better looking map.

I just flat out textured it in paint.net. I haven't really started with X normal yet either, but i will soon.

I have begun on three new models. Here is an image of the one I will be completing first. Turns out the older model cars are much easier to create.

I made a video on how to make an ambient occlusion texture in Wings3d.
You can then use it as a layer in Paint.net.
I find it easier then painting all the shadows by hand.

I got some tips from this page on making cars.

I like it it has an almost cartoony/toy style to it that I quite like. As L3mmy said, it's reminiscent of GTA 3

Thanks L3mmy, and Vent. I was trying to achieve something GTA 4 like.

Just about finished a new model. I used a few different texturing tricks. I'm not sure if i like how the headlights came out. I'm also going to put together a police SUV based on this one.

I'm going to finish the other SUV model. then I'm going to go back and texture the truck model again. I've changed just about every part of the mesh and it looks far better.
