I was wondering how to make the steam1 decal face upside down so it looks like fire extinguishers from the ceiling.
Can anybody help?

The keys to remember for rotation/movement are:

PgUp/PgDn, 1-6 (or SHIFT+1-6 for smaller increment tilt), R to rotate (SHIFT+R for lower increment rotation).

Place your steam decal. In my example, this is what it looks like.



Right-click the decal, then right-click in the window so you can move around to see.



If I press SHIFT+1, the decal tilts left.



If I press SHIFT+2, I can tilt right.



If I press SHIFT+5, I can tilt forward.



If I press SHIFT+6, I can tilt backward



Once you get into the direction you want, just use PgUp/PgDn to raise/lower.



If you want large rotation/tilt, do not use SHIFT. The SHIFT changes the increment from 90 degree to 1 degree.


There's no problem that can't be solved without applying a little scripting.

Well... I tried it but even upside down the steam heads upward.I want it to put out a fire on the floor.
So I need some help!Anybody!

Are you deleting bin and dbo files after making changes?

I know this sounds silly, but rotating the decal doesn't seem to work anymore. Found out I had to "flip" the texture 180deg. to work
"upside down". Also for the decals "decalspec.txt" if "steam1" has an "offset=50" change it to "offset=-50" then it's centered again.
At least that's what I do. (1.20.19g)

Yes, that is silly. It works for me- I can rotate all my decals into the position I want, but I keep forgetting I'm using v1.17.

My bad.

I know, I scratched my head for awhile with this problem.
I could swear it worked in 1.18 (I know it did), but no
longer
I never thought of it as a "bug" so just moved on.

ncmako sent me to this post and I can't never remember this working for a long time.

I think the new particle system might of changed it when it was added.

It is a simple just edit the texture in a program like paint.net for the time being.

If your having trouble with the decals, have you ever tried
playing with the "decalparticle" system yet? They work pretty good.
