There is no issue two. The editor told us at the time that issue 2 depended on sales of issue 1. I have no idea if they met targets or not. The lack of an issue 2 makes me suspect not.

Cheers,

Rich

I can't help but feel partly responsible for the mag's demise...

I picked up a copy in WHSmiths, and then put it back immediately because £6 for an informative "leaflet" didn't seem fair.

Looks like I goofed on that one

Can I ask you a Question?
What is it?
It's an interrogative form of sentence, used to test knowledge. But that's not important right now.

truthfully i thought £6 for the mag was a bit pricy and the content wasnt upto scratch. it was all about modding games. oh and a tiny section on darkbasic and modeling, and for the price the mag was a little bit too light for my liking.

i mean the amount of pages is about double of what you expect from "webuser" and that is 99p

£6 for a mag. No correction mag and demos. The contents of the mag i can pick up from things like forums. No another correction "Raven" that need for speed review was pretty good. And the demo's i can pick up from fileplanet or something. Not worth it for a few glossy pages.

I could not find it anywhere to buy, infact the PC Format forums where littered with the same question, "where is it?"

Remember how I started a thread about this when issue 1 came out? How the DVD didnt work and I emailed them about it? I never got a reply. They made discs that didnt work with some drives, and the firmware update on future's site didnt do anything to solve it. So I didnt even bother looking for issue 2.

At least our copies of issue 1 will be worth about £3 in 10 years time on Ebay .

I thought it was not too bad, but I suspected that there wasn't enough demand for an amatuer developer magazine, after a month of issue 1 being released they still had them on the shelves.

Och well, just have to spend my £6 on an X-Box mag instead, at least I can use the coverdisc!. I don't buy PC game magazines, never got on with them, PC Format is no substitute for ST Format. Anyone remember when computer magazines cost £2.50 and had all sorts of user submitted stuff, tutorials, programming sections, and the reviews were based on opinion, not marketing hype.

I suppose Rich will just have to fatten up the newsletter....

I never really liked UK game/pc mags either. Too much hype, too many ads.

I think we are very lucky here in Finland because we got 2 great magazines... on for comps in general and one for games. Although the game mag has taken a spin down lately... mostly due the fact that they are reviewing console games too.

MOONSHiNE, did you know that there are many different DVD formats. So if you have "older" drive, it might not support all formats. That is actually not their problem. it's your problem. But then again, the whole mess with the DVD formats is pretty bad...

Yes, I wasnt really bothered about the fact that it didnt work, what bothered me was the fact that the firmware update that they posted on their site for download (which was designed specifically for my DVD drive) didnt work, and when I sent them an email to their support they didnt bother to reply.

I subscribe to loads of magazines

Edge, PC Gamer, PC Zone, Custom PC, PC Plus, Game Developer, Develop, Official PS2 one and a few PHP ones.

Edge is my favourite, but their "tone" can often be harsh. PC Game is the most immature, but great DVDs - sure you can get most of the content off the 'net, but I don't have all day to spend downloading 4.5 Gigs worth of trials just to see if I like a few. DVDs save me loads of time.

Custom PC is a superb magazine for PC building geeks, very well written. The PS2 mag I buy for the DVD only, the style of writing makes me sick - it's like listening to a bunch of adults trying to talk like teenagers.

Oh and I also collect 80's and 90's computer mags too. Nearly full collections of Edge, C+VG, Your Sinclair, Sinclair User, etc and totally complete sets of ST Format, Amiga Format, ST Action, Amiga User, CU Amiga, ST User, etc etc I have hundreds of the things (much to my fiancee's dispair)

Cheers,

Rich

I only subscribe to one magazine - PC Powerplay - An Australian gaming mag that covers quite a lot: Previews, Reviews, News, Hardware, Mods, as well as some Special Features. It's quite well written and the only thing it's lacking is anything about Game Development and it has the occasional typo/error but I can live with that.

PC Zone is good - well rounded reviews, sensible scores, and best of all the retro-zone section where you can be transported back to the early nineties and see the types of games we used to play on speccys, c64s etc.

I dont subscribe to any - I only get them if there's anything on the CD that I want (or if I need some reading material for a long and boring journey). Aside from that I just look through the magazines at WHSmith and thats it.
