You have to extract a separate pck file to the 'city' directory

Please post any comments.
(I hope this works!)

The file's about 6.5 mb. I can't send it by email to anyone cos I only have hotmail (imb restriction).

I've you could host i'd be so grateful, I've tried unsuccessfully to log on to DBPcommunity.

on dbpcommunity you have to wait for jimmy(the owner) to set up your space, so it may be a few days. Can you not get another email provider/use someone elses account which doesn't have the limit?

Wait a minute, to use geocities, you need to have yahoo. Did you delete yahoo after you created the sight or something(lol). You need an adress just to enter the edit sight. Install yahoo again, and it should work.

Also, is the 6.5MB .zipped? That could also be the problem. And I'm guessing that your URL has _ and not spaces(can't really tell because of the underline), because spaces are a problem to geocities.

Oh and one more thing(lol, this gets me all the time ), geocities is case sensitive so you have to spell it EXACTLY as is, meaning 'TheCity' isn't the same as 'thecity', hope I helped, because by the discription, the game REALLY sounds great and playable.

Click:
Yes the 6.5mb is zipped.
All the filenames are correct (copy and pasted). The problem is that I've exceeded some bandwidth thingie and it wont let you view any media off my site.

no, lol. we already figured out the problem, and that's geocities bandwidth limits lol.

i can host it for you (if you can find a way of getting it to me), but i re-configured my name servers for shockforge.com last night, so there it could be a while until it propagates (maximum monday night).

i do have a little dns trick though, that could get shockforge.com propagated across within the hour, so i'll try that and tell you if its successful.

do you have msnm? i know a 6.5 meg transfer wouldn't be too great on my 56k, but it could be a last resort?

- Maybe you could se the camera range a bit farther?

Now that I have got the files I have uploaded them to my server packaged in one zip

http://www.gamehorizons.net/stuff/thecity.zip

If you do not want it there please let me know and I will delete it. Also if my bandwidth begins to bust I will take it down lol. To make sure my bandwidth is ok please use only one thread in download managers

Enjoy

Did you extract the files to the correct location?

Just direct the main zip to a path like c:/games

And then put the pck zip "city.pak" into the "City" folder in C:/games/City

This should then work, if it doesnt, then I'm not sure

pretty sweet- amazing for a randomly generated city! Of course the car wheels dont spin and stuff, but for a tech demo it's pretty impressive. I did notice a bit of slowdown when there were several cars on screen, but overall very playable, and fun!

fantastic job!!!

this is great! the only thing that lets it down a little is the physics, collision isn't always spot on and driving feels like your on ice otherwise its really cool!

Looks very good for a randomly created city.

I wanted to learn C++ but then I started having nightmares.
I would scream at night, "AHHHHH!!! THE SEMI-COLONS"
