You need a multitab to have more than one controller.

Get Timesplitters 2, MGS 2, GTA: Vice City and Max Payne 2

You need the multitap if you want more than one controller plugged into a port. There are only 2 ports so if you want 3 controllers you will need it.

How old is your dad and what does he play? I don't think a guy in his 40s or 50s will have any use for the games Chris mentioned. You may have to start him out on a sports or golf game before he gets into the heavy action titles.

Madden Football ????(whatever version) or NBA 2K?(whatever version) always work. Time Splitters 2 is also very good. Dynasty Warriors 4 is also good.(repetitive, but somehow addicting.)

Well, that should be enough to get you started for now.

Having just come on here after playing SSX3 on my PS2 for the past 2.5 hours I couldn't recommend it enough.. fantastic game! also Tiger Woods 2004 is stunning as is Broken Sword 3. Much as I hate to suggest it, but The Sims always seems to go down well with "parents". Perhaps also games like Theme Park, Worms Blast or a racing game? Gran Turismo? Burnout2 perhaps. So many to choose from

The only thing that pisses me off is that microsoft refuse to give any money to EA for network play. FFS its not like they dont have enough and another thing.......

Sims? Crappy blue disk, NO Sony you cannot have £60!

Ok, sims stopped working, payed £15 for new disk and did not need to. Version 1 PS2 Blue Disk errors! Grrr

Anywho.

GTA: Vice City (Kinda anyoing as someone forgot to put gravits as 9.8, so you get a lovely funny game)

GT3 (Well i got all the rest, i used to be an adict. But not enough time to get the dirt cars!)

MGS2 (Hell yeah, you gotta go the first mission with the aim to collect all the tags, putting every one of the marines to sleep is a large job!)

Hell, Some more that are OK:

Max Payne (Cut screen crap though, i wonna shoot!)

Burnout (A classic!, GET IT OR DIE)


Well, errm, i dont have many titles, but who cares. I got a blockbuster card, and you get vouchers every month...

More interested in PC games though, RTCW and MOHAA - WW2 FPS action never fails, even when you can whip everyones arses every time. (In MOHAA, not RTCW casue it is impossible to be the best when there are 40+ playing and normal speed air strike is enabled...)

Arent the the blue disks just normal CD? Yeah, the old PS2's will stop reading those after a while, and it seems to be impossible to fix it (thats why I have two PS2's. One for me, and the broken one for my little brother).

the only PS2 game I liked was SSX Tricky. so I bet SSX3 must be great too. I'd recommend that, but I don't know your dad... and that's the thing that matters here.

If your paw is anything like mine or a lot of paws I know, get him Tiger Woods 2004 and Tomb Raider (Latest). You might find that TW2004 prevents you from getting to play the PS2 though, it has a habbit of eating up entire evenings without you noticing.

If it's out on the PS2, get Fusion Frenzy - it's a really nice events type game, but the events can be anything from Gladiator style hamster-balls knocking each other off a diminishing pillar or collecting and setting off fireworks. 4 Players at once and a nice long game that will keep you playing (if just to play one of your favourite rounds).

I tend to stay away from FPS games on the PS2 (Analgues are too close together, mucks up my aiming!), but despite it's age I really enjoyed Half Life on the PS2, esp the 2 player co-op mode, same goes for Soldier of Fortune : Gold, it has a 2 player co-op mode too - that's if you fancy a team game to play, your paw might be more into games like that if it's with another player. Timesplitters has been mentioned, but that's good for multiplayer and co-op.

Matt Hoffman 2 is a bit easier to get into than the Tony Hawks games, I reckon Tony Hawks can have a steep learning curve when you haven't cut your teeth on the previous versions.

Simpson Road Rage, you could probably get it second hand for £10, but it has quite entertaining gameplay, 2 player mode, and your really just playing to unlock all the characters, so it's a game you can pick up and play for 5 minutes here and there.

SSX3 is one of the best games I've played in years (and certainly the most fun).
Good graphics, great playability, perfect learning curve and superbly structured game progression.

Can't say I'm too impressed with the new Tony Hawkes....I much prefered the previous versions.

My choices:

Max Payne 2... not for the gameplay, cause it is buggy as hell on the PS2(although killin russians is always fun), but the story, cause it is in depth and great. Hell my 48 yr old dad loved playing MP2, till he had to come and ask me, how to kill Vlad..heheh.

Metal Gear Solid 2... Good gameplay and story, a must buy for PS2 owners.

GTA:VC & 3... Adult oriented, mobster killin fun. Funny story's, and all kinds a weapons.

Socom 2: Great online fun if you gotta Net Adapter. But the single player mode lacks depth.

It's truly a shame that they don't make SSX games for PC too.. I'd be sure to get it. Those are the only console games that I like. But I bet they would be even better on a pc.

Nah, SSX is a PS2 game, it would'nt translate very well to the keyboard or mouse. I prefer the dynamics in Amped to the SSX series, but I prefer Tony Hawks to both of them.

Is Jetset Radio Future any good? - I loved the original on the dreamcast, and it's always on sale cheaply (<£10) (the multiplayer mode intrigues me).

Absolutely.. I agree with everything you've said, the game is simply stunning! I just LOVE those massive "flying through the clouds" jumps and drops it's really fantastic.
