Erm, well done. I got my first ban *from* a forum in 1991, when me and a mate annoyed a bunch of Canadians who were reciting a shakespearean play on Mono (remember that???). We basically flew around in our penis planes "shooting" at them, as they tried to ignore us. Was funny. And we were totally loaded (you know what I mean) on various things as we tried to complete a Uni project at 3am in the Sun solarium room (room of Suns basically).

My first ban from a forum was a couple weeks ago. It was in a music thread where everyone was posting songs they liked, I posted "I don't really like rap", apparently the owner of the forum liked rap though and so I was banned.

And people call this place strict!

I got banned (twice) from the Gamewinners forums. Someone said the music in MoH frontline sucked, so i ripped him a new one. Then the next time i was banned was when someone said the gameplay in FF10 was the best of any FF. First i asked him how many FF's he had played, he said "7-10", then i proceded to rip him a new one, and got banned.

Yeah this forum is pretty lenient(spelling) compared to alot. You an atleast rip a few new ones before getting a thread locked, or yourself banned.

Banning is good but very easy to get around. Most people these days have Dynamic IP addresses and if they got IE, the cookies will only last for a week in total. I am not too sure about the other browsers.

Actually, Stas4All displayed statistics from websites publically to everyone. Not only that, but you needed to put a link to those stats on your website to get them recorded, so essentially everyone who visited that website saw a link to a list of everyone elses IP's who also visited that website. It definately isn't illegal, it's just thought of as ethically wrong.

Megaton, I think you overreacted a bit too though, you could've just sent an email/message saying "hey, I didn't do that" and I'm sure it all could have been sorted out.

dont argue with me now its illegal to hack. I dont ean like, killing someone, i mean its more like punching someone in the face and them sueing you, that sorta thing. The thing is if someone used the IP he displayed to hack someone, and somehow the hacked person found out where the the hacker lived, and sued him, then i think the person who displayed the IP could be somehow sued..dont argue it!

Anyway, everything is cool with preston now, so lets leave it. He made a mistake, just like we all make mistakes(crap I have made so many mistakes, lol). Oh yeah, and megaton overreacted...and maybe me..
