been reading a lot of post regarding 3d studio max...

did anyone actucally been able to successfully export animation from 3d studio max? (bones or character studio?)

know some people use panda exporter but it seems it is still pretty "unsuccessful"....

i export from Studio Max 5.x and 6.0 using the DirectX eXporter Beta 1.0 from the DX SDK Extra's 8.1 and 9.0

worked fine for me. the only trick is you have to compile them specifically for the version of Character Studio you use.
They work just like any other exporter does after that,
model -> rig -> animate -> export
no special trick to it at all
However DBP doesn't support spline animation, so bare that in mind.

i just tried that....either i am completely stupid or i am stupid..haha

it still doesnt work.....i try using bones and Character studio...it still doesnt export. ver is 6 and 4.2, so i dont get it....

you compiled the one from the Extra's SDK right, for Max6 you'll need the Summer 2003 Extra's SDK with the Max6 version (~100mb)
i'm on my Mac at the moment, limited number of sockets here so you'll have to wait until i can plugin my other system.
but as thats the version i've got i'll upload mine later that should work.

i'd recommend trying to export to MD3 and testing that your actually rigging correctly

thanks raven, if you do upload it it would be great!
i try export it to MD3 and it works....so it is probably my exporter...or i am just so stupid that i cant export..
gaaa why am i so stupid ahaha
