Are there any limitations for media on a rasberry pi?

I can`t get .mp3 and .mp4 h264 files to run.
The .wav files are working well.
Edit: .ogg is also working well on the rasberry pi.

For .mp3 i can Image to use the .ogg format instead, but what about videos?
