Dear fellow programmers,

After copying the new Dark Basic Pro version from Github to my laptop, I cannot get the compiler to work. The code editor works fine, but after running and compiling my program, it gives an error in which it says it has stopped working.
The code I wrote works fine on another PC with the installed DBPro version (not the one from Github). However, I don't have those install files and I can only seem to find the Github version by looking around on the internet.
Other code fragments such as a simple Do : Loop are not working either.

Is this problem related to the open source version posted on Github or Windows 10?

I hope someone can help me out, because I'd love to continue using Darkbasic Pro

Thanks!

You can just copy the dbpro folder from the old pc to the new one or run it off a USB, there is no need to do an actual install if you have a good previous installation available.

You may want to do this anyway because the open source version is not the same as the old version, it has a number of issues, including breaking compatibility with several popular plugins.

That said, the stopped working problem is more likely a missing dependency on the new machine not an issue of dbpro itself.

The usual suspects are missing the June 2010 version of directx 9.0c, or missing the redistributable that includes mscvp71.dll and mscvr71.dll

Thanks for the help,

However, reinstalling the redistributables did not work and directx 9 can't be installed on windows 10..

Any other suggestions?

Sure it can, I have on several windows 10 machines.

Try this link https://forum.thegamecreators.com/outbound?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.microsoft.com%2Fdownloads%2Fdetails.aspx%3Ffamilyid%3D2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3%26displaylang%3Den

If that doesn't work anymore (Microsoft tends to remove old pages) I can upload the distributable install package that I use.

Thanks for your reply, though the URL is no longer active.

If you could upload the package, that would be highly appreciated!
