Hey everyone,
Has anyone had any success with exporting animated boned models from truespace 6.0 into DBPRO? Static or limbed models seem to export fine but it all just seems to die when you try single mesh boned models. If this topic has been covered elsewhere, or if you know of any resources or ideas on how to solve this problem I would be ever so grateful if you shared that knowledge. Unfortunately, apart from Lithunwrap for texturing my models truespace is all I really have as far as 3d content creation goes.

If there is no full solution to this problem, or the results of endless tweaking aren't worth it, what are some good (hopefully freeware, but shareware will do) animation programs? I've heard of Character FX, but I haven't used it just yet (still holding some hope for truespace).

Sorry if I'm just echoing a ton of other posts, but I haven't been to these forums in a long time.

Thanks in advance,
Sina.

Hey... it hasn't even been five minutes yet - chill!

You've gotta remember that replies on this board are sluggish. People have their own projects to tend to, and their own questions to pose, and their own life to live.

I don't own Truespace 6.0, so I can't answer your question, but I am interested because I won Truespace 3.2 (yes the free one).

Oops... sorry.

Well, I'd like an answer to your question as well. For one thing, I don't even know how to animate in Truespace, let alone seeing if it works or not. I've got Truespace 3.2 and can't seem to figure animation out. I don't want to learn how to do it if it isn't going to work anyways.

Not too many trueSpace 6.0 owners here (4.3 myself), you may want to try one of the trueSpace community forums. I saw some really good links to some tS4 and tS5 tutorials for animation and DirectX here. But, I don't know if they would be applicable to tS6 or your needs since they were addressing bone rotation and IK animation probelms in trueSpace.

Thanks guys. I'll do some more searching around and if I find anything I'll post it here. I think I remember vaguely someone saying that truespace gets the header wrong when exporting animations to .x files. Something about it using dwords instead of words. Not sure though, anyone care to clarify?

@ Northern_Fist: As far as I can remember boned animation for single mesh objects we introduced with truespace 4. Truespace 3.2 will just do joints for limbed objects so if that's the you want to go then it should work ok.

@ zircher: Well I'm willing to read anything you're willing to link. There may be a few pieces of information that could be useful in this situation.

Thanks again,
Sina.
