I am working on my project which needs textures that are 512x512, but when I use them on a model, they are reduced, making it look very undetailed and blurry. Is there some way to change the settings so they allow the textures to shrink but don't lose detail?

Yes, reduce the texture size yourself! The reason they are being reduced is because your gfx can't handle the orginal size and is reducing them at load time.

But on most other game makers I can have textures up to 1024x1024 and is extremely detailed.

Wait. Maybe I can create a smaller cube, instead of the size 1024x768 and have the 512x512 teture be placed on a 64x64 object. Maybe it blurred because it was so big it distance it self from the camera and it seemed blurred. Maybe the smaller the closer it will be, and it may be detailed. I gotta try.

If it's far away, the mipmaps will make it seem less detailed, yes. That's a DirectX feature not a bug or anything.
