Im thinking about buying this c++ learning cd from help.com

i just wanted to know if this is a good cd to buy if i want to learn c++

does anyone know any good books or tutorials on learning c++ even online classes for now.

I used "An Introduction to Programming with C++" second edition by Diane Zak. Now that I look over it, maybe its not a great book. A good resource, but not so good if it's your only one. That cd doesn't look to bad really. $90 is a lot I think. Just don't buy those "21 days" books, those are junk. The book I mentioned teaches about fundamentals more than anything else really.

Alternatively learn a closely related language like PHP then move to C, which is what I did.

yeah, what are you talking about Phaelax? i'm learning C++ with the book pazza mentioned and its great! its not the only resource you will need, but it teaches you the fundementals.

lol what about Sams Teach Yourself C++ in 24 Hours

is that any good

theres a used one for 3.25

i was thinking of getting the 24 hour and the 21 days books

im not trying to learn fast but i jsut want a good book for now to help me learn the basics

I find the sams books great for beginners to any language. They practically taught my mom HTML in a couple days, but all of it was wasted when my mom took up using FrontPage.

Maybe I should get the C++ Sams book...I've only got his HTML and Game Design (which is why I want the C++ one) books so far.

I recomend one of the "...For Dummies" books... I am getting C For Dummies for Xmas.

They are really good for teachign you the VERY basics, and do it in a very easy to understand, conversational manner... It makes everything easy to comprehend and to impliment.

It doesn't promise anything like learning it in 24Hrs or even 21Days but it is a great a resource for looking back upon once you get more indepth and it is an awesome pilot for learnging the language...

Jamsa's C/C++/C# Programmer's Bible, 2nd Edition. Cost me approx. US$20-25 (PHP 998, US$1=approx PHP54.5 because we have a bad economy lol). Best I know for my money.

I borrowed a dummies C book before, only to figure out that most of the stuff will only run under borland.
