How can I find out the system requirements for the games I create? Is there a way for me to monitor these while I'm building the game?
I'm going to recreate a couple of blocks of my neighborhood, as convincing as possible, - and of course let the zombies lose after that...
And I was wondering, since I plan to keep on building and building how far could I go?

There is no exact way unless you have access to a lot of computers. The only way to do look at how fast it goes on your machine and guess how it will perform on a slower/faster machine.

There is also the work in progress forum. A few screenshots are usually enought to get a few people to download it and tell you how well it runs on their machine.

You can do this:

Minimum: DB sys requirements (like comando300 said)

Recommended: Your system specs (if the games runs fast) or just type a uber-system (3ghz, 1024mb ram, etc)
