Well I'm not sure about the internals of DarkBasic through and through, and my sytem will be, in essence, 2D, but I want to support png aplha, and overall alpha (each layer on the map will have an alpha value).. Which of course will need Direct3D as DirectDraw is stone-age technology that pretty much bi-passes my Gforce4 abilities and uses standard processing time.. I'll also need the 3D side for the particle effects (which i know DB supports internally).. Can I use Images and Sprites, or should I intead code it the hard way with textured polygonal squares (quads if its supported).. And if i use polygons, can I still support PNG alpha layers as well as an overall alpha?

Since no one has responded, I'll dumb the post down a bit
- Is the "Paste Image" command using direct3D api, or direct draw
- Does 3D textures in DB support png-alpha
`- if so, can i apply a global alpha ontop of that?

Put this on the DBPro or DB board. No-one in the newcomers corner will have the faintest clue.
