oversized metal boots.

the thing that helped me on that model was starting with more polys than last time and i ended up with less in th final...weird.

just in case your wondering it's of the cartoon type.

looks good i like the chrome effect... but i agree.. the boots do look rather "heavy" but i guess thats ok if it is a cartoon character. but how is she supposed to move her ankles? animation of her legs would be kinda weird with no flex in the ankle... unless they are supa-flexi heavy metal boots shes wearing

the model you see just has plain shaders to get an idea of the way the texture will be like(i'm working on the texture) and the boots are like the female version of the doom guy in quake 3 arena
they must be bulky but when i get done with the texture it will look different but not a lot of detail.

Boots or not, that girl has calves like a pachyderm. They don't look right. Otherwise, you've managed to cram a LOT of detail and smoothness into 983 polys. Any chance of a wireframe?

when i get aroun to makeing the texture it will be fullbody armor
what you see is just the temp shader because i hate the plain grey shader maya has as default.

she don't look to manly she has armor on so she will look bigger, I just finshed my rigging and all i can say is i modeled it perfect no weird kinks or folds just perfect.

and a valkyrie is a soldger/warrior so she won't be a small woman.

all thats left is the TEXTURE and i'm to lazy but i'll make some of it by saturday.

LOL ok, not much point in putting the polycount on the pics if you're going to MeshSmooth it. There's probably 3 or 4 times as many poly's in reality.

Yea, 10-12 times the count depending on what level you mesh smoothed it. I wanna see your 983 polygon model and a wireframe before I can really C&C.

I can see the polies loaded on her boots.(WireFrame!!!)

Overall it's a pretty good model, I guess I'm gonna have to take your word on the boots though. I'm curious to see how that turns out.

-Nice job with the arms/hands. Always a hard part for me.
-I'd pay some attention to the neck area. It just doesn't flow nicely to me.(might be a little long, nothing major.)
-Hair looks like it comes outta no where, but the texture should make things flow more nicely.

Good model for the amount of polygons, I'll be watching for more updates.

I do say this is a great model. Feet definitly look better at the angle. Since it's cartoon, I'll take your word on the boots and stuff.

2048 by 2048 is too large. Make sure you reduce that when you're done. Currently my knight model(see below or above), I'm using 512 by 512. Your UV is fairly similiar to mine though, loads of stuff, but nice and organized.

hey Yellow i have such a big texture as a starting point so when i shrink it doen to 256x256 or 512x512 it wont have no white spots or any thing i dont want on the texture.

i'm real good in hi poly and nurbs but low poly is a challenge and i always try to keep things under 1000 polys and the number 1 rule
thats true in all poly/nurbs models is balance in the spaceing of faces.
