it uses technology that doesn`t exist (power pack and positronic brain for two), a fictional control system by Asimov (the three laws of robotics...the positronic brain was his idea too), and speaking as an engineer (cos I am one) that arm structure is a mess and wouldn`t work, full stop.
it`s just one of these weird sites you get popping up now and again, like the firm that plans to build a starship from a giant 90 meter long teardrop shaped ruby or the lifter fraternity who where convinced 20 years ago they had discovered antigravity....and twenty years on they are STILL convinced they discovered antigravity...but they don`t have anything that lifts anything worthwhile yet (and never will), check out Sony`s Qrio for a real robot and just what they can do at the current point in time (not a lot actualy)

I doubt this is real, just look at the robot closely, its a 3D model.

Follow the clues...

1. It looks fantastic. The site is second to none. This is more than just your ordinary gimmick.

2. There is a date...July 16th. OK, now we know that this is related to something significant on this day.

3. Check the occasional reality check, the misuse of wording that doesn't quite fit (e.g "When not in use [hard to imagine that day] ..." This doesn't fit, someone has slipped into the present tense.)

4. Finally, look deeper. It's an advert by Fox Movies, what do you think the chances are of there being a film released July 16th next year about the NS5 domestic robot? Lots of emphasis on the 3 laws, good chance it's going to stray, methinks!

10/10, fantastic site!

No, this isn't real. The most advanced robots I've seen so far, are those bots that Sony made. Very human-like movement, but far far away from what that robot tries to play off.

it says it can harnest power from water. i wouldnt think we are advanced in this technology enough to have be able to get its power in such a small space as a humanoid robot or am i wrong?

The "1 Terabyte of internal memory" claim is the obvious giveaway. However it is a very well done site, with lots of gratuitous flash animations - someone somewhere will fall for it.

its not real , if anything other than a hoax its a build up to a movie, the main giveaway is the 3 law rule, its in place to make it co exist with humans, so either the movie will be rampaging human killing robots, or another bi-centennial man meets A.I. anyone who thinks this is real is silly cause the release is jan 16th, yet japan only have a full size robot that looks all blocky. I'd bet my pirate hat that its for a movie."Hey baby wanna kill all humans?"

edit: just another thing, we have sheetty AI in most of our hit video games, so how in teh hell did someone invent a nueronet processor before ai was supperb in video games.

edit 2: just read some more, it says they will update wirelessly, bam right there is a way to form a plot of how they go crazy, the overmind sends it out skynet style and robots go crazy. also it can withstand several thousand pounds etc, which means the cops will go oh no we cant stiop it with normal weapons, break out the emp guns blah blah blah


edit3: ok i jsut read some other posts, yeah im not alone in my thinking

I saw a commercial for this in theaters. Before they showed it, it said "the following preview has been approved for all audiences". I'm pretty sure it's a movie of some sort.

It's the worst looking robot I've seen, it's gonna look so fake once it moves. The most impressive CG Robot I've seen has to be from the Bjork's 'All Full of Love' Music video. This one looks like crap compaired to Bjork's.

Actually, that's possible. A scientist in Canada has found a way to create power from water. He's demonstrated it by showing all the different things he had plugged into a socket, which was powered by the device. It sucked in water from the river. And the best part of all, its exhaust was purified water. Who knows, maybe one day you will be able to pee in your gas tank!
