One way would be to write text to the screen using either the print or text commands. Then you get an image of the text using the get image command. Then you texture your plain with that image. I'd suggest you have a look at Rich Davey's star wars scrolling text demo for DB. Alternatively, if you have DB Pro, have a look at the version of Rich's demo which I posted after having fiddled with it a bit to make it run in DB Pro.

Another way, which I don't recommend, is to buy a large black permanent marker. Turn on your computer and your monitor. Then activate whatever programme it is you are running. Once the plain appears write onto the monitor screen with the black permanent marker the text you want on the plain. Bear in mind that you will need to buy a new monitor after this. Also, your handwriting may not be very neat as it is very difficult to write properly with large black permanent markers.

I hope this is helpful.

Philip:: I believe you can get marker now that will write on a screen, and wipe off afterwards. This has 2 advantages:

1. You can reposition the text
2. You don't need a new monitor

Hope my post is a significant help to you.

the commands object screen x() and object screen y() are what makes it sit in 3d space over the object but it can be quirky with some camera positions.
