Errr, I know turbo pascal's a programming language, but I've never seen the code before. Can it also do Windows apps, DirectX, OpenGL, etc like C++?

Turbo Pascal is rather out of date, the latest incarnation of a Pascal based language is Borland's Delphi/Kylix

Turbo Pascal is the precursor to Delphi. I.e. the Borland company's implementation of the Pascal language before they started doing Delphi.

I remember learning Turbo Pascal back in college 1989-1991. So, I gather it's rather out of date.

We had to learn it at university in 2000 (and the comparison to Think Pascal for MAC)

to answer some of you quiestions- yes it can be used to write apps for windows and other OSs although now it is more commonly used as a teaching language, we have to learn it at my secondary school.

Pascal bubble sort I did in highschool. Can't believe I still have most of my programs.

From what I understand, Pascal did have some form of objects. But don't expect to be using DX or OGL.

As mentioned before you should use Delphi instead, since Turbo Pascal is rather old. Turbo Pascal 7 (for DOS) was released 1992, as was Turbo Pascal for Windows 2.

Delphi is actually the name of the RAD tool, the language it uses is also known as Object Pascal. Delphi can create Windows Apps, use DirectX and OpenGL. An alternative (to a certain extend) is Freepascal.

why freepascal? i tried freepascal and it doesn't even work right in xp, the best would be bordland's turbo pascal, it's free, has a good interface, works on all windows OSs

It does work with XP here.

The best would be Borland's Delphi 6 or 7 personal edition. It's free and better than Turbo Pascal (which isn't supported anymore since 1995).

i meant the best pascal before it became delphi

and freepascal (at least the one i have) when you comlpile it they don't run right, at the end or part way through the program they just spaz out and it repeats the same error phrase over and over again as fast as it can type the message.
