@ Homegames Yes, I can confirm that when changing a segments material index and a bullet impacts the segment the proper sound file is played.
Very easy, open the segment's .fps file that your using. I only changed the segments "wall" materialindex (which makes sense, not the floor )
Change any parts that are walls, to the new "materialindex" and your done.
Example...
partmode2 = 0
meshname2 = meshbank\containment room\wall.x <----WALL
materialindex2 = 1 <--------------- CHANGE THIS NUMBER TO POINT TO NEW MATERIAL SOUND
