Yeah. I have a new computer - Gateway, 2.6 gigahertz, 256 Megs of Ram. It's a Celeron.

How come things slow to a crawl even with my new system. Is it that I'm using the Intel Graphics card that came with it? Or is it the Celeron. Or could it be that I'm using the demo lite version of DBPro? What?

Your processor is definately fast enough, but i would say upgrade your graphics card - even a £100 is pretty good, secondly you might want another 256mb of ram, that will cost about £30 - £40 and yes darkbasic is very slow in comparison with most other indi languages such as DBPro and Blitz Basic 3d/2d.

theres no place like 127.0.0.1

DBC works pretty well for me with the Intel Graphics card although I have to admit that I'd like to upgrade it very soon. I just upgraded my main memory with another 512MB.

If it is for your enjoyment, then get the best you can afford. If you are making something for others, then the average computer will probably have some kind of integrated card and many users are afraid to open their computers up to install another card. They expect to put a CD in and magically it will run the game, full speed, great graphics, and so-on.

And with that I have a question that I need to post to the board now for myself.
