Geek Culture / gif with transparent background

I made a tiny gif awhile back and am trying to remove the background from it. However, when I save the file (using photoshop CS5) it keeps altering the image after export. I saved the 4 frames of animation and tried using an online gif creator and ended up with the same altered result. I think it might be the gif compression in combination with the tiny image.

Here's how the animation should look:


And here's what it looks like after removing the background:


You'll see the 2nd bar from the left doesn't move at all.
This is for a java project I'm doing, and FX has no support for apng so I'm stuck with gif.

Alright, so this was a pain in the rear...
For some reason starting with a GIF was causing some weird issues where it would try to over-optimise.
I created a new document and frame timeline, it's working just fine now.

The icon is being displayed in a javafx tableview to signify what row is active.
