Due to my recently unfortunate ransomware attack, I've spent the past week digging through old harddrives trying to recover my data. It's a good thing I never empty the trash, I'd say half of what I've recovered was in there and about 98% readable. But also came across some nostalgia for those members old enough to remember DarkForge. I'm not sure, but this could have been before the RGT website.

I tried to pull it up on the wayback machine but it just tells me flash is no longer supported :p I bet that's going to break a lot of old stuff.

Many of users here had their personal web pages when DBPro was released. Nowadays most of this sites are gone. Something is can be found with WebArchive, but many code demos ( archived files ) are disappeared permanently.
So i try save to HDD any stuff which can be useful.
For Dark Forge Ive found this:
http://www.photonstorm.com/game-development/welcome-to-the-darkforge-an-archive-of-all-my-old-darkbasic-code
Looks like you can get all code snippets in one file

I've lost all my DB code in my recent ransomware attack, I'm pretty upset over that one. I have some stuff on my website still, which is currently inaccessible until I update the php code.

I just tried to get DBPro set up; ran into some snags with it. But when I first installed the download version, (version 5 or some-such), I got a rush when I saw the old IDE with the docs built in on the right side. Glorious. I wish modern IDEs had docs built in like that.

I have all the old DBPro versions if anyone wants them, if that;s not breaking rules/policies/copyright etc. All my programs DBPro/C+/Purebasic/ etc etc go on my backup drives. I have never lost any code.
If you want to recover old stuff lost, try ReCuver or similar.

I'd be interested in getting a working copy of DBPro classic, if you had it. Again, I wouldn't do it if steps on the toes of legality.

I still have the CD and all of my old DBC projects, as well DarkEDIT. I may be able to help you. Do you have discord? Mine is TheComet#5387

What I no longer have, and I wish I could find it somewhere, is the asset pack they sold along with DBC. I forget what it's called, maybe DarkAssets? It contained a bunch of textures, 3d models, sound effects, animations, and music.

Another thing I can no longer find is a DBC sample where you have to try and kill a green goblin. I remember it was first person, there was thick fog, and the world consisted of a matrix textured with grass and tall rectangular pillars you could hide behind. The goblin would slowly make its way towards your location and once it got within range, it would shoot a fireball at you. You could duck behind the pillars to avoid it, and you could shoot a fireball of your own back at him.

Anybody know what I'm talking about?

Is DB Classic free now? If TGC is ok with it, I have the original CD for it and darkmatter and I could host the CD images on my server.

Dunno, prolly not. But there's no obvious mention of DB&DBpro on The GameCreators anymore.

I wouldn't mind finding a legacy demo installer; as I think most of my stuff was written around DB V1.06 to DB 1.08 or there abouts.

There was a guy / group maintaining a source/assets torrent but I guess like most things that's long gone, Sad as finding legacy stuff now have been quite difficult.. I found a few things on one HD backups, but I've no idea what they are and if they're already published here.

Ah yes nostalgia via the Wayback Machine. Back when I first found DB the website looked like this: https://web.archive.org/web/20010925120351/http://darkbasic.co.uk/

There are a few earlier captures on there as well, all the way back to 1999

I don't really work with DB Classic any more, but I have to say, after all these years I'm still surprised by how much I can still do with DB Pro, some of which would not be possible without so many community made plugins though I think.

There's a number of RealGameTools captures with at least the main page of forum also, but the links seem to dead as a door nail in this capture.. What was the link for the version shivan (danny) ran LLRTG that one ?

The who's online list is basically a who's who of the DB scene at that era..

Here's one a few rgt members might remember after llrgt went away.

https://web.archive.org/web/20070125232828/http://www.codersturf.com/

Devhat also comes to mind.

I'm trying to recall the llrgt link but I'm coming up blank. I think it was a .co.uk domain possibly.

Same, can't recall the link at all.

Found this brief mention in one of the old new letters.

I don't recall Danny's handle here, but it used to Shivan on the early DB classic forums. So maybe the forum link is baked into an old post here. maybe ?

Found a mention to Dannys home page (Mentiioned In This thread) which had RTG forum on it
