Hello, this is my first post here on the AppGameKit side of the forums. Earlier this year I started to work on a proper AppGameKit game after toying with it for a while.
It's called "Distant Lands".

Distant Lands is a open-world text-based survival game, based on chance and randomness. You are put into an earth-like world with an objective to survive as long as you can.

Key features:
- Scout & explore areas to discover abandoned houses, ruins, and more to scavenge items from.
- Build camps for the night to craft items and vehicles, cook food and sleep.
- Craft a bow to hunt deer or use a fishing rod to fish.
- Collect and upgrade tools for defending yourself or collecting resources.
- Stay cautious of the nights, as there might be dangerous animals or unknowns who want a bite of you..
- Find other travellers to talk with, trade with or even stay away from.
- Find and explore towns to buy items and travel.
- Explore different lands, weather and climates like cold taigas, dry deserts or plain fields.

The last time I worked on this project was some months ago. I haven't really had any inspiration lately, but I had some more features planned.
This project is my first AppGameKit project, and as all first big projects there is a lot of mess and tricks I've done in the code which I can't understand coming back to the project after months.

But I figured I wanted to show this to the AppGameKit community as there is really no reason for why not.
I would love feedback on this to see if I should keep working on this or not.

It is advised to read the unfinished guide in the docs folder. One of my main problems with sharing this game, is that there is a lack of a proper introduction on how to play.
I hope the guide can be helpful. You can also type 'tutorial' in-game to get a simple tutorial on the screen.

The game is far from done. Most of the sprites / UI / pictures are placeholders as of now.

If you want to work on it then do so, do not let others determine your work, with that said I am about to try to play this.

Looks interesting.

The forums are not really the best place for showcasing and feedback as most users are either searching for their own stuff or to busy to play games, I know I have my hands full with multiple projects and helping users out I just could not find the time to sit relax and play a game ..

Stick it on itch.io and search other game sites, you will soon get the feel of weather its worth continuing

Thanks for the comments, both of you!

I will post it on itch.io and try to find some other places to post it, thank you.
Hope you get to try out the game, Game_code_here!

I played it and to be honest was confused.

What you need is choices to choose from.

Like asking questions

Drink water?
Search?
Go here?
Go there?

then it would be easy.

trying to remember what to type is hard and confusing.

but other then that it has good potential.

I ended up on continuing to work on the game as I really enjoy it and AppGameKit is fun to code in, especially when I have the time to do so!

Thank you Game_Code_here for the feedback, it's very appreciated! Since the game isn't very linear, I think a system where you need to type it fully out is more functional. as of now atleast. I have though, listened to your feedback and I ended up creating shortcut buttons for the player to use. These you can write down commands on , and starting a new game also comes with some pre-defined commands. I've also created a much better tutorial, but it still isn't perfect yet. I'll get back to this in a future version.

With that said , I released a new version today. (alpha 1.3) There is a lot of improvements.. especially to the GUI, the shortcut buttons, tutorial .. + many other features!

I've also uploaded an in-browser version / HTML5. It's a bit buggy at the moment and doesn't support saving.

Full changelog and download is over at itch.io.
