In Distant Lands you explore through different areas and landscapes, all while scavenging for items and tools, building camps & surviving. This is an open-world survival game where a lot is based on chance and randomness. How long can you survive? What will you encounter along the way?

Current version: Beta 1.0

Some of the things you can do in the game include…
- Collect and upgrade tools for defending yourself or collecting resources.
- Explore different lands, weather and climates like cold taigas, dry deserts or plain fields.
- Find and explore towns to buy items, do quests and travel.
- Interact with traders and strangers. ( ..or don’t, it’s up to you.)
- Craft a bow to hunt deer or use a fishing rod to fish.
- Build camps for the night to craft items and vehicles, cook food and sleep.
- Find dungeon caves and explore them for treasure.. but be prepared for what you might face!
- Make a campfire & upgrade it to sleep better, cook food or upgrade your tools.
- Collect up to 15 achievements!

If you want to work on it then do so, do not let others determine your work, with that said I am about to try to play this.

Looks interesting.

The forums are not really the best place for showcasing and feedback as most users are either searching for their own stuff or to busy to play games, I know I have my hands full with multiple projects and helping users out I just could not find the time to sit relax and play a game ..

Stick it on itch.io and search other game sites, you will soon get the feel of weather its worth continuing

I played it and to be honest was confused.

What you need is choices to choose from.

Like asking questions

Drink water?
Search?
Go here?
Go there?

then it would be easy.

trying to remember what to type is hard and confusing.

but other then that it has good potential.

I ended up on continuing to work on the game as I really enjoy it and AppGameKit is fun to code in, especially when I have the time to do so!

Thank you Game_Code_here for the feedback, it's very appreciated! Since the game isn't very linear, I think a system where you need to type it fully out is more functional. as of now atleast. I have though, listened to your feedback and I ended up creating shortcut buttons for the player to use. These you can write down commands on , and starting a new game also comes with some pre-defined commands. I've also created a much better tutorial, but it still isn't perfect yet. I'll get back to this in a future version.

With that said , I released a new version today. (alpha 1.3) There is a lot of improvements.. especially to the GUI, the shortcut buttons, tutorial .. + many other features!

I've also uploaded an in-browser version / HTML5. It's a bit buggy at the moment and doesn't support saving.

Full changelog and download is over at itch.io.

Thank you EdzUp! I plan a touchscreen / pad / mobile version for the future. I already have some ideas and code for that!

Update:

Beta 1.0 is now out!!! I've updated the first post with new pictures and new links.
The game has taken a massive re-design, both with the visuals and the gameplay.
