Recently I went on a little scavenger hunt across the web looking for both volumes of Hands On DarkBASIC Pro. Mostly because I'm a sucker for old engines and wanted to learn DBPro for fun, and based on Digital Skills' HODBPro page (which is still up btw: http://www.digital-skills.co.uk/dbpro.html), the books seem to comprehensively cover almost everything stock DBPro has to offer! Very useful for a noob.

There was a problem however... The books were nowhere to be found. Neither physical copy or .pdf. Not on Amazon, Ebay, ANYWHERE!

And so I had only one option left, email Digital Skills asking to buy both books in .pdf. Though I was not expecting a reply any form.

To my surprise, I now have both books in .pdf, and YOU can too.

Volume 1: http://www.digital-skills.co.uk/DB8873194/HODBProVol1.pdf
Volume 2: http://www.digital-skills.co.uk/HN726492/HODBPV2.pdf
You can also find companion material here: http://www.digital-skills.co.uk/dbprodownloads.html

This is really cool of them to do, and I can't thank them enough.

Now, after you read both books, I heavily recommend that you purchase some of Digital Skills' other books, such as Hands On AppGameKit Studio Volumes 1 & 2, as well as Hands On C++. I certainly will!

Anyways, have a good day everyone.

guys, i've confirmed that Gun Man can share the links so do enjoy them while they're available and do show your appreciation to alistair for his continued generosity toward the TGC community as GM suggests!

I purchased both AppGameKit books from digital skills and I highly recommend them. They are well written and very useful especially when first getting to grips with AGK. I never used DarkBasic Pro but I have downloaded the books just incase I decide to give it a try one day. Thanks go to Alistair for making these freely available.

Wow, thank you very much.
I still love the Dark basic pro, there is just something about it
that appeal to me.
Unfortunly , the opensource version of dark basic pro, does
not run on my new pc / windows 10, due to a bug,
“ Dbproftpdebug.dll Not Found”.

Did check my message box, nothing there, exepct a string of letters and symbols!.

Anyway, figured it out, after searching on the TGC forum, my pc was missing the directx 9c files, and after installing the directx files and restarting my computer, the dark basic pro is working perfect, or atleast 90%.

Some of my old 3d demo games does not work well, shaders, (my graphics card - geforce rtx 360 12gb) etc, but otherwise dark basic pro actually works surprisingly well, except my games run much faster, which is a bit anoying, well maybe i should fix the sync rate.

Anyway, its not a big deal, becauese i wont be using dark basic pro 100%, but instead jump right into app game studio, have`nt tried it yet, bought it one year, which is a bit embarssing, i guess.

pdf version, its better than using the built in help menu in App Game Kit Studio app.
