how big is the main loop?
how many for / next commands are in your main loop?
how could you reduce code looping around and around?
what can be removed from the main loop and it still works.?

I have this same problem. I can't release my source code, because it is going to be a commercial game.

That is my post in the Program Announcements board. Go to my website to see my game and check out the demo.

On my 1Ghz Pentium III with a 64 MB Geforce4 and 256MB Ram my game goes about half speed initially from the compiled version, but doesn't slow down as drastically as it does running from the source code. I don't know why...

I just posted the same problem. My code runs about 59FPS while running from the IDE. As soon as I make it stand alone (it doesn't matter if the media is compiled) it slows to somewhere around 33FPS.

It isn't the frame counter, the program is very much noticably slower.
