Okey I want to make a engine that's reminds of the one they used in FF7,FF8 and 9 for my rpg. Mostly the graphics. The background should be a jpg or bmp that's made withe programs like 3dsmax or bryce. The problem is that I can't make this thing work. I've tried backdrops and plains. Models should go over the background of course
Please help.

Take a look in the showcase at Equillibrium. (Go to there website www.mojomagic.co.uk I think) It's a rather stunning game that uses 3D environments.(not jpg or bmp(2D))

For backrounds you can simple use a plains and texture them. Equillibrium uses a 3D environment.

My advice would be to take some time to study the full source code they provide on their site.

Post any other questions or concerns.

Well I've had that demo for a while now. Both of them actually. I now that you can use plains, but isn't there a bit of a problem when u use multiply plains. They are all squares and the black in the texture doesn't become invisible as in sprites. I use DBC right now btw. And I've noticed that RPG is the hardest genre to make btw. All the variables for the inventory and for all the items, events and so forth.

Btw..I have some problem with animating X-models. For some reason DB won't show the models I've animated. I've use Max4, Milkshape 1.6.5. I even used a program from a DX 8.1 extra pakage. The program was called Conv3ds and u could export it as a mesh or both mesh and animation. But it still doesn't show the model. Could it be some sort of bug in DBC? OR am I just doing it wrong.

in the case of a plain, you just have to set transparency to ON, as it's treated like any other 3D object. if your background color is black, then set if should work no problem.... although I've only used DBPro so I can't speak for Classic...

Go Go Gadget DBPRO!

Refer to the set object command in the helkp files...it allows you to set the visual properties of objects such as plains and allows you to set black as the transparent colour.

ZEDWARE website coming soon... //END TRANSMISSION//
