is it possible to load and use avi's to texture an object?
if it is, how would i go about doing that?

PLAY ANIMATION TO IMAGE
This command will play a specified animation to an image. An image will be created, using the animation as
a source of animating texture and copy the animation to the specified region within the image. You can
use this as a rapid method of streaming an animation to any polygon.

SYNTAX
PLAY ANIMATION TO IMAGE Animation Number,Image,Left,Top,Right,Bottom



DB Classic

Store the frames of the movie as seperate cells and flip them accordingly. File Size Intensive.

I have heard others have that problem. What codec are you using to compress the avi? You might want to try another and see if it works then.

dbpro : 2ghz p4m : 512mb : geforce 4 4200 go

the codec is the format inside the video that it is using to play the file.
EG: File Type / Codec
So An AVI might be compressed with a Sorenson Codec
Compress the AVI again with an indeo codec as an example.

Gifs are compatible with the animation commands, try just using the gif.

i thought i read in another post somewhere that gif's weren't compatible with DB....

Hmmm.... are you talking DbClassic or DBPro? Depending on how fast Db can texture you can have a series of bitmaps that you cycle through for your texture. If you have Jasc Paint Shop Pro/Animation Shop you can take apart your gif there, or you can use Windows Movie Maker (comes standard with XP).

i have classic and a trial of pro.
i really don't want to load up all of those bmp's for each animation...

I know what you mean...it's nasty stuff taking apart gifs. What program did you make your animation in? You might be able to reduce the number of frames, but keep the quality to make it easier. I'm all out of suggestions, though. I'l check back on this post.
