hey all... i've kinda decided that for the next month, maybe a little longer i'm going to be cranking out freelance models for people to use in thier games, or what not.

by Freelance, i don't mean i'm up for grabs as an artist.
i mean i'll be creating models for people to download at cost.

i'm not sure what right now, probably around $5-10/model not sure ... just trying to make up some capital as money is a little tight and i'm too bloody proud or stubborn to take out a loan to see me through til my contract is reevaluated.

don't really care what you people want, just put down the model(s) you'd like to see and i'll get to it.
when i'm done will probably put it up on TurboSquid (that sound reasonable?)
i dunno, i've not really done this in like 4years so can't remember what to do hehee

and the markets probably changed... the next day i'll be working on something for Psionic's site, so gives people a good ammount of time to figure out what they want
well laters ^_^

pucker, why not? 5/10$ is pretty cheap
when models are given for free, theyr usually very bad, badly modeled and skined, not very complete.

but if they have a price tag, usually the modeler will put alot more care to it.

I dunno how well raven can model and skin, but Im sure people wont be disappointed.

Raven, are you having them fully done? modeled, textured, rigged and animated?

Im not gonna go into this lane but, Im just very curious how this will turn out to be.

I'm sorry Raven, I might want to see your work really badly, but I wouldnt pay anyone that much for any model. I'd just make it myself. But, maybe you can turn the tide of our opinions by showing us what you can do.

Cheers,
Preston

depends on the model really on how it is setup...
i'm not saying people put down what they want and i'll make it for them specifically to buy.

i want people to tell me what they want, so i can create it and put it up for everyone to have. could just sit here and tinker of a tonne of models and such and put them up, but without knowing what people want i can't exactly be guarenteed anyone will want them.

character models will be
.. mesh // skinned // rigged // animated
object models will be
.. mesh // limbed // skinned

perhaps animations thrown in depending what sort of object it is.
if i had anythink online to show or even on this computer i would; but i know a few have seen what i've done before and know what kind of quality i work towards.

Well Raven, if you want an example of what people want, I'm sure a lot of people would like to see some pretty decent fantasy and futuristic models, like this one:

(worked that up in half an hour, 824 Triangles)

I'm sure people would like models like that (and I'm sure they'd sell well on TurboSquid as well).

Cheers,
Preston

erm... oooki, well as people seem to want to see a sample of my work and i don't have any; i've just started sketching up a turn around for something. Not sure how long it'll take from start to finish, but i'm making an "exhiled angel"

i'll model/skin/rig her and see about adding some nice little animation of something. Not sure what kinda animation but i'll cross that bridge when i come to it hehe ^_^

Well if you're interested in model ideas, how about something like what TP69 and I were talking about in the Silent Core thread. Not a single model but several body types with modular components such arms, weapons, and head/sensors that can be mixed together. Each body type would have its own animations (idle, walk, run jump, getting hit, etc.) but the idea would be for the programmer to add weapons and such to the basic frame.

I saw somebody asking for models, willing to pay for them last week. You may look at Team Requests threat.
I think he was posting here but moderators were locking his post.

lots and lots of human type models, soldiers, regular people, medieval guys, space troopers they are the hardest things to model but the thing people most commonly need in their games(you've got to move away from player models as cubes eventually ) thats why the alienware comp was good, they give you a fully animated model and it gives you a good base for your game

ya know if i ever end up with the time to make this model hell will have frozen over lol... i'd just got through sketching when i got a call, "yeah, i know your on holiday. But do us a favour and gather all the information you can on Invader Zim"

was uptil god knows when in the morning, like 10am i think; only to be woken an hr or two later for lunch and finally get back to sleep with some bloody constructing crap going on around me.

lol so i'm cranky with half a turn around sketch, but a tonne of cool Invader Zim stuff and considering i have a feeling i'm going to need to make them; might as well save myself the trouble hehee ^_^

I currently am looking for:

*A model similar to Preston's sketch for a main character
*4 or 5 models of male villagers, 4 or 5 of female villagers, (some fat some skinny) and a bunch of replacement textures (so I can take the same model with different skins and make them look totally different)...
*A model of a male child villager and a female child villager, again with a bunch of different skins
*A few small non-humanoid monsters for my character to fight
*3 or 4 models of wizardlike wise-men/elders to guide my main character along his quest.

I'd love for all my models to be in the same style (ie created by the same artist), and I'm definitely willing to pay a few bucks each for them.

Raven, keep us updated as to what kind of models you are going to make because I'd much rather give the business to someone here on the board than someone I've never heard of.

ahh oki cool yeah sounds easily done; i've still not found the time to get around to this ... i've been researching for almost a day straight now; i'm gonna take a break soon just to be able to think about something else.

but the more i read up on Zim and such the more i just LOVE the show. hehee
gonna have to take a few hours out to atleast work on a model though to show.

Bah, I like the way my model looks. Well then, I just purchased the full version of CharacterFX, and I'm going to animate my elf (my first animation, hope its good ).

Cheers,
Preston
