I've played some DB first person shooters that rely on DB primities to produce their levels - slow as mollases. Firstly, I've also seen them edited with cubes even when plains would have sufficed.
Tell me what you think of this theory: a person builds a level out of primities that they create. These primities would be .x files of plains, cubes, triangles, etc. These basic primities would then by imported into the editor program, and scaled and textured as pleased to constitute the FPS level. Yes, more complicated levels would be made out of possibly thousands of objects, but the clipping would probably be more effecient (I hope).
Is this stupid or does it have some measure of viability? I came up with this idea when I thought about making the need some people are having to make a FPS with a built-in level editor (and possibly when I got hit over the head).
