do you mean the 3dgamecreator drag and drop or dark basic classic? i get confused by them both sometimes

with the 3d gamecreator you cannot make a game like counter-strike because its drag and drop with darkbasic you can make something close to it and in darkbasic pro they have a screenie of what i presume is a clone of a cs map so in darkbasic pro you can learn to make games exactly like CS if not better or worse

3dgame creator - drag and drop make almost any type of game but limited to its functionality (is that a word?) good for people who don't want to learn to program

darkbasic (classic) - learn to code in the darkbasic language make almsot any type of game with a mass selection of functionality good for people new to programming

Darkbasic pro - learn to code in darkbasic language with a few (maybe few hundred changes) with a vast amount of functions it expands what darkbasic brought to us to a new level make any type of game (yes a game like CS or anything like that and BEYOND *twilight music*) said to be good for people new to programming and veterians but i think veterians would make better use of it or better suited for veterians

Don't go for the 3d game maker.

All the games look the same. You can not make CS, but in dark basic pro (also on this site) You have to learn how to program and you can make CS if your VERY dedicated and it will take years.

The 3D Game Maker is a drag and drop program, that generally wont give you much freedom. Online games arent possible, as I dont think it can chat with a server.

DBP however, could create a game like Counter Strike, if you learned it well enough

The 3D Game Maker is OK if you just want some fun for a few minutes, but it cannot create games any more technically advanced that a simple 3D demo. You definately cannot make CS or online multiplayer games with it.

Seeing as you can get DarkBASIC Pro for only £6 more than T3DGM at Amazon, I would go down that route.

Everyone says get Dark Basic etc...but really 3D game Creator is there for people that don't want to learn how to program. It fills that requirement. I'm sure that lots of folk can get pleasure from making games the easy way, but they are not so original. I was going to buy it for my daughter.

@Dmagic1

Short answer is YES, you do need to learn the language, although it really isn't that hard.

3DGM makes games quickly and easily, but the games are all pretty naff and samey.

Hold out for FPS construction kit - probably be released by summertime, it'll be supported here and looks pretty damn cool, you would be able to make FPS games and I imagine there'll be some sort of multiplayer support.

When there's not enough on DBDN: It's not worth the massive fee!

When there's too much on DBDN: Why don't we non lucky people get anything?

Edit-- chuckle, my own account's expired, just realised. Better get around to renewing

ok thx...this all helps. Considering that i've never made a game before, i'd love to get dark basic, but i'm a newb. I wish i could understand that. Again, i've tried it before, and it's just crazy. Not to mention, it's super expensive!!! Oh well. But there's one concern i do have of this site. I ordered the 3D GameMaker 5 days ago, and it's still saying "Prepared for Dispatch"!!! It's been 5 days!!!
