Hello.

I have to 'pop over' to the UK this weekend and I will be staying in Bristol (near the university) saturday to tuesday night (10 -13 Jan 04).
I have never been to Bristol before, so, does anyone here know where I can have a good meal and then a good night out?

Thanks

Depends what kind of a night out you like. Meal is easy though - I'd strongly recommend the Firehouse which is down right in the centre of town (on the Waterfront) next to the @Bristol building. Excellent food, friendly staff. Failing that, there is ASK on Park Steet, or Bejing Bistro just a little further up.

As for "night out" there are various clubs and bars but it depends on your musical tastes really.

The 10th is my Stag party in Bristol!

Cheers,

Rich

Thanks Rich.

Sounds like you know Bristol.

OK, my defintion of a good night out (since I will be alone) would be to sit down with a good beer/wine and listen to live music. No real preference on the type of music just so long is it isn't heavy rock.

Any suggestion?

Having lived here for 15 years, yeah you could say that.

There are a few live music venues, but not too many. Your best bet would be to buy yourself a copy of the local magazine Venue when you get here and check out the listings for that night.

Rich

Thanks Rich,
I appreciate the help and if I see a drunken, naked fool tied to a lamp post on saturday night I will be sure to take a picture to post here LOL

I'm useless with names, but at the bottom of Park Street, there are some good clubs.
At the top (if I remember rightly, I'm usually drunk by the time I get there) is a student bar.

At the bottom, and along the main road a bit, and then up the side-road next to the hippodrome, is a lapdancers (heh, trust me to know that).

Other than that, given its a saturday night, you could just follow the crowds.

I'm probably out in Bristol (last night before friend goes back to uni), so I'll keep an eye out for the randomly handcuffed guy (congratualtions too)
