I use truespace 5 for modelling however when I load the .x files, the model is not only extremely small but the faces are really distorted and odd looking.

What is your code, and what are your export options?

I managed to fix the tiny model problem since I was comparing it to a very large sphere.

However the model still loads deformed much like in this post:

None of the export options have been checked.

I'm going to assume that you have the same problem, you installed patch 5.2 and you are screwed.

Fixes:

1. Uninstall Dark Basic Pro, and re-install up to patch 5.1.

2. I have TS 4.3 and I did not see a triangulate model option. So, saving under .X means that you will need an additional step. My suggestion is to use the CONVDBO program and convert the .X file to DBO format.

I have not tested this completely because I went with the delete and re-install solution. You can find the convertor here:

Yes I did install the 5.2 patch. In TS5 there is an option to triangulate models when you export to x, although I'm concerned that triangulating my models would increase the poly count significantly.

Where can I find the full change log for the 5.2 patch? I'm going to decide whether it's worth keeping the patch or not.

Thank you for the response.

Change log? I don't think there is one on a file by file basis. I simply trashed everything but the projects directory and reinstalled DBP, the editor patches 1.09 and 1.092, and patch 5.1.

As to triangluation, I think DBP/DirectX does that automatically anyway in 5.1. I have noticed that DBP returns a higher poly count using statistics than I see in my editor (which use quads and other mutli-sided polygons like hexes.) I don't think triangulation will alter the performance of your model beyond the fact that file sizes will increase.

The converter doesn't solve my problem but it's good to know, thanks.

I think I will simply reinstall DBPro, thanks for the information.
