Well, the ED team has decided that we arent going to be posting any more media, ANYWERE You may think 'well your not going to get any C&C' well this may be true, but we want people to C&C the demo. If we release screenies of everything, the demo wont be exciting!

We think it will be best to keep everything hush hush from now on, and only clue you in on big news

We're NOT quitting the ED project, Im NOT Leaving Apollo, heck! Im not even pissed off this time! We think it will make the game better, having more people wanting to play the demo when its out. So, we will be ready for dumploads of C&C when the demo IS out. Using this system, patches will not only fix coding, but make the game look better every time.

Any comments on this gameplan? I hope you guys arent dissapointed, but we think it will make the game better

But it wont help you on the things you need fixed.
Such as the models.

Not saying the ones done are not good. Just you know like
carrot man. Like the way people helped to fix him.

Well, we figure that no one will want to play the demo, if they already know everything thats in it We're just hoping to get C&C on the demo, which will also make people have to C&C on gameplay....

I did that with my compo entry, I did'nt post a screenie or a demo at all, until it was finished and uploaded. It does help keep you focus and deal with problems depending on their importance - not worry about texturing and stuff that can be done at any time. Unfortunately due to most peoples coding styles, you can't really release a demo until the game is almost finished, I tend to work on the engine until it's mostly done, then worry about front ends and level handling so I've never released a demo of anything, just finished stuff (then debugged versions where possible!).

I suppose when people see screenshots, they fit the gameplay into it subconciously. I mean if you see a screenie and the graphics are not great - it's easy to assume the game plays how it looks, same is true for great looking games, often the gameplay dissapoints.

Sounds weird but I think this is the best thing that could happen to ED, good luck with it, hopefully you can still post about your progress, just no need to post screenshots. When Rich adds the game coding discussion forum, that'd be a good place to discuss ED - it's where all the people with good ideas will hang out .

Cheers Van B That is pretty much the exact plan. That is what we do, gameplay > graphics

A wise choice RPGamer. Probebly the best way to go. C&C is great, but it'd take forever if we gave critisism on everything posted.

Better just to get it how the developers like it, release a demo and ask a developer community what needs to be tweaked.

this is a good and a bad idea.
this is why i think so

the good:
you get a lot of good C&C when you put out the demo.
you do`t get litte noods have a go at the GRAPHICS.
the game will look new and ground branking when it comes out.

the bad:
you may not hit your targets if you do`t have to show of your work.
(it to easy to think you put off key things till latter becos it do
not have to be a play able game yet)
you may cut you self off from help on the project.

not to attack you are any thing but how do`n is ED
how far have you got on the codeing
how far are you on make the first level
when are you planing to put out the demo. becos if you do`t set a date for it you will never get it do.( not to say you get it out on that date it just you have to try)

this is just what i think about it all
