Hi,he looks ok but something's missing,try to add him a scarf to cover his neck,note that you can use a plane for the part that's hanging down(and possibly animating later on) that should make him look less "empty" without adding to much triangles.
The body,select and Z-Scale a row of vertice or two at the height of the waist,then a Slight X-Scale,in real life,gravity pushes the cloth over the body line,in this case,a thick coat get almost no definition at the pectorals but the sides are squashed by the arm,I can't really phrase it otherwise.
AN IMPORTANT note is that,if this character was meant to be overweight,the above would still apply conforming to the more "gracious forms" there are on the figure...

You may find good references but for fat people you'll just have to dig a little more and/or on the web.Unless you've been in front of a PC for too long and got a good big mirror
