Hello everyone... this is my first humanoid model... up until now it's just been a lot of boxes/etc. if you've seen my Weave 3D game, or my alienware entry (UFO Catcher) then you know what I am talking about.

anyways my new game requires animated characters... and this is my first attempt. The model is now partially animated (idle loop, run loop, jump loop)... I need to finish the animations, and then I'll give it a texture.

as you can tell from the picture, it's going to be a snowball fight game.

please give me any comments you have on the model, particularly criticism! p.s. the proportions are purposefully off; the character is supposed to be an adolsecent boy, and I just think it looks more cartoony with the big head and short legs!

here it is shaded and in wireframe (this was modeled entirely in JTEdit, a free and fantastic modeler!
(check the post about it http://www.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=16939&b=3 )

and one here in a few quick poses

Looking great, nice belly there. Now it just needs a texture or some color?

Hi,he looks ok but something's missing, try to add him a scarf to cover his neck, note that you can use a plane for the part that's hanging down(and possibly animating later on) that should make him look less "empty" without adding to much triangles.

The body, select and Z-Scale a row of vertice or two at the height of the waist, then a Slight X-Scale,in real life, gravity pushes the cloth over the body line,in this case,a thick coat get almost no definition at the pectorals but the sides are squashed by the arm,I can't really phrase it otherwise.

AN IMPORTANT note is that,if this character was meant to be overweight, the above would still apply conforming to the more "gracious forms" there are on the figure...

You may find good references but for fat people you'll just have to dig a little more and/or on the web.Unless you've been in front of a PC for too long and got a good big mirror

BTW:I'm not kidding, the real life mirror is my #1 external tool after sculptures/busts.

I wasn't really trying to make him overweight... I just sort of modelled the coat that way, thinking that's how it'd look... maybe I'll slim him up a bit

Looks a bit like Moe out of the Three Stooges. Must be the hair

it's actually a hat, not hair... which will be obvious when the model is textured

thanks for the comments everyone, I think I'll slim him up a little in the final version!
