will linux run good on my system or is it too slow?

Linux will run on practically anything if you know what you're doing. I've had it running on a 100Mhz 486 with a VGA Wonder+ and an EGA monitor (obviously without X). And currently I have it running perfectly well on a 200Mhz laptop with a 2mb onboard chips'n'tech graphics card (no 3d acceleration), with X running perfectly usably.

How much ham could a hamster stir, if a hamster could stir ham?

My friend managed to get Linux working on his Psion (30Mhz, 16MB RAM!) - including with a simple GUI.

Your system will run Linux fine. You have a GeForce graphics card which is good as they are quite well supported under Linux I believe.

tbh! if you didnt know that... You might find it hard to use linux...

Depends Mandrake is ment to be good for new Users BUT i would recommend knoppix (sp?) it runs on a CD and means use can still go back to windows quite easy..

Just a suggestion....

noe of my friends have a 2X Dual Celeron 2x3.6 Ghz, with total 1 Gbyte DDR (dual DDR, 400 Mhz), 300 Gbyte Seagate, and Radeon 9800.
