I don't agree with the way this forum shows topics being locked and being flamebait. First of all, a gigantic red FLAMBAIT tag really doesn't help the situation, if anything it encourages flame and discourages any kind of reforming behavior in the thread, if it ever dropped from being flamed. I've seen politics threads hit some flame, then stop being flamey and go back to normal.

And the lock tag, having three red !!!'s before AND after? That just seems like it's calling for people to read a bad example of a post. Having a lock icon appear over the folder would be much simpler and wouldn't scream READ WHAT PEOPLE DID WRONG!

Seeing a flamebait thread makes me annoyed and saddened, that these kinds of threads aren't locked and are on our nice little forums, and seeing locked threads makes me sad cause they're so...anouncement like.

That's my 2 cents, just some general comments.

I hate auto-lock feature, especially on 20-liner forum

I don't really mind that, it prevents bumping, which is very annoying

They should increase the time then. 30 days goes by so quickly in 20 liner forums

Nothing wrong with marking post where the discussion may get heated.

There should also be :

A) [IDIOT] for people who post stupid things
and a
B) [WHAT???] for those people who post unintelligable things.

It should use a clever formular so it takes longer for a thread to be locked if it is in a forum that gets less posts, bit stupid auto-locking a thread to stop it getting bumped when it is still on the first page.
