For a hit counter I put this in the .html file where I want the counter displayed.
I got the php from some site and changed it a bit, google for php hit counter and you will get loads of links.
<?php
$F = "dll_move_c.txt";
$C = trim(file_get_contents($F));
$FP = fopen($F, "r");
$C=fgets($FP, 4096);
fclose ($FP);
settype($C, "integer");
$C++;
if ($FP = fopen ($F, "w")){
fwrite ($FP, $C);
fclose ($FP);
}
echo($C);
?>
The text file that holds the counter looks like this
the file needs to be writable, how you do that depends on your ftp client.
You then need to create a .htaccess file and put this in it
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .html
If you want seperate counters on more than one page then you need to make a new counter file and change the F$ in the php to your new file.
I also name all my pages with out php content .htm so they don't bother the php parser thingy.
No idea how secure/safe/reliable it is and every access to the page will increase the counter so it isn't a try indication of visits.
