I looking for advice please

My computer:
1.2 AMD Duron
32MB TNT2 (AGP)
512MB PC2100 DDR

Now when I run games like C&C Generals or Unreal 2003 I don't get good frame rates.

I gonna buy a new CPU and a new graphics card.

What I wanna know is which would improve performance best? (Cus I only gonna purchase one thing now & one thing next month - I'm a cheapskate)

Also my motherboard FSB is set at 100MHZ but as a maximum of 133MHZ. Would changing it to 133MHZ improve performance greatly or just a bit.

Thanks For Help

Just replacing your graphics card will make a noticable difference, tnt2 cards are very slow. Even a £50 card will make a lot of difference.

Our civilization faces three great dangers. The first is destruction by a nuclear war, the second is being crippled with overpopulation and the third is the Age of Leisure.

Get the videocard first. The cpu is around recommended spec for the games you mentioned, but the videocard is well below recommended spec for any modern game.

Depending on how much you want to spend, I'd be looking at a Radeon 9600XT or higher, if you can. You won't fully realize it's potential until you get the new CPU, but it'll be a huge help in the meantime.

nope not really.
you need a new mother board you can find a good 400mhz fsb for about
$59-$99 and ddr is cheap go for intel not amd if your playing UT2003 and a 128mb video card or higher is almost needed to play that game with the highest settings and you need aleast 512mb of ram
1.5 GHZ processor will do P4 will be best (that duron is old)
the above is just an idea for you to think about.

can you board even use a radeon 9600 because i dont think that 100mhz fsb can fit that card in the slot or even work.

There are some MoBo Bundle deals at Savastore.co.uk, I'm looking at upgrading myself. They also do a GeForce 128Mb Gxf card for about £45.

Can anyone comment on these bundles, the example below is £151 (and please don't turn this into a US/UK price war!) They include MoBo, processor, heat sink & Fan, and memory.

@ James 1980
My wife bought me my motherboard for Christmas so it would be suicidle to get a new one yet. Now I aint too clued up on hardware but if I have my FSB set too 100MHZ then its running at 200MHZ so if I set it to 133MHZ it will run at 266MHZ - I only know this because I was told by having 133sdram was making it imposible for my FSB to go any faster than 133MHZ, so I bought me some DDR ram.

NEway thanks.
