Hey guys,
I understand it's simple to write a little program that reads heightmaps and turns them intro matrices, but I have a little problem using that method. I'm using nuclearglory's dll, and since they it doesn't support collision with matrices I've looked to use 3d models for my worlds. Unfortunately I see no commands in DarkBASIC that create meshes, and I've not heard much about how DBPro can manipulate meshes. Does anybody know how to convert heightmaps into meshes using either DBclassic (preferrably), or DBPro(will use demo version)? If not then does anyboy know of any programs other than things like Amapi ($3-400....no thx)? If milkshape could do that I would definitely register it.

Tools I use:
Total Terrain 1 and sometimes 2
DB Classic
gmax
occasionally JTEdit and DeleD

thanks,
crazy donuts

Use one of your modelling programs to make your matrix into a X model. Use the heightmap as a displacement map in the modeller.

milkshape has a heightmap plugin. haven't tried it myself, but you should give it a try.

Unfortunately, none of the modellers we have right now support heightmaps. But I will look into milksahep. In fact, we're going for that deal with gameSpace where you get v1.5, Level Exporter, and the usual milkshape deal for $269. That was a great amount of help walaber, thank you.
